The FDA is cautioning physicians that certain types of antipsychotic drugs can boost the death risk of seniors with dementia.
The use of these antipsychotics are use to regulate behavior in senior citizens and has been considering fine until now and the new study the FDA ran. These drugs include such as thorazine and prolixin. Thorazine has been used in prisons also to regulate violent behaviors. Most prisoners taking this drug have been known to do the thorazine shuffle which is like Tim Conway slow walk.
Now after all this time the FDA is issuing warnings that the labels has to have warnings of it causing death in seniors with dementia. It will contain labels warning of a higher risk for heart attack and pneumonia for elderly patients with dementia who received atypical antipsychotics.
I feel this warning is coming too late in alot of these drugs. Not very many people know that antipsychotics are very dangerous to take at any time in my opinion.
The new cases raise the number of states affected to 28 and the number of people sickened to 277, 49 more than last week’s reported number. At least 43 people have been hospitalized from eating tomatoes.
The FDA still has not identified the cause of this outbreak. The agency is focusing its efforts on Mexico and central and southern Florida, but it has yet to trace the genetic fingerprint to a farm or plant.
A solid lead in the investigation is a bunch of nine people who became sick after they ate the tomatoes from the same company.
All I can say is stay away from tomatoes so you won’t get it until this is all over. If they don’t know it could of come from anywhere. so take care in what you eat.
The Center for Health, Environment & Justice has just published “Volatile Vinyl: The New Shower Curtain’s Chemical Smell”, which claims more than 100 chemicals are released into the air when consumers open the packages containing the curtains.
Now is that not craziest thing you ever heard. Well I do remember getting them and the stink to them but never thought it would be poisoning. It seems that when they make them they use that many chemicals in on little plastic shower curtain then what are they putting in to the rest that is plastic and we are buying and using and I don’t see any labels on that saying what is put into it.
Just think about the pvc pipes are used for like in bathrooms and under sink in you kitchen and our water is running through it .. maybe cause it is out in the air when shipped and not package in tight container plastic it is a little less lethal. I don’t trust the government and their regulations since I was a kid and I went through a pepsi plant on a school outing and they were telling us they could let a certain amount of fly shit and dead flies in each batch.
Needless to say I don’t drink pepsi, I am juice and water person. We all need to start thinking about what is in everything we use or consume.
Surprising research suggests that childhood cancer is most common in the Northeast, results that even caught experts off guard. It could be just the difference in reporting it too.
A Large government study has notable regional differences in pediatric cancer. Their are Experts saying that it also provides important information to raise smaller studies, confirming that cancer is rare in children, but more common in older kids and among white boys.
The study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is based on data representing 90 percent of the U.S. population. Round about 170 out of every million children, a number that shows just how rare childhood cancers are.
The highest rate was in the Northeast with 179 cases per million children, while the lowest was among children in the South with 159 cases per million. Some experts suggested that could mean cases were under-reported in the South and over-reported elsewhere.
The rates for the Midwest and West were nearly identical, at 166 cases per million and 165 per million, respectively.
The cancer incidence in boys was 174 cases per million, compared with 157 cases per million in girls. In white children, the rate was 173 per million, versus 164 per million in Hispanics and 118 per million in blacks. Teenagers had higher rates than younger kids.
A total of 36,446 cases were identified in the study, which analyzed 2001-03 data from state and federal registries. The research appears in the June edition of Pediatrics, released Monday.
